The real format
New York publishes its test format. We use it.

Official, published by the NY DMV. The DMV's own manual states the format: to pass the written test you must answer at least 14 of the 20 questions correctly, including two of the four questions about road signs. Like Ohio and Pennsylvania, New York publishes these numbers officially, so no reported-counts caveat is needed here. The DMV publishes no retest waiting period for a failed written test, so we state none.2
The pinned document
New York's manual prints no revision marker, so we pin the exact served file by its SHA-256 fingerprint and publish it: anyone can verify they hold the same document.

We wrote more questions than we shipped. Two independent verification passes checked every question against the manual itself, and a third independent audit re-checked a seeded random sample page by page against the official PDF; anything unprovable or too close to the manual's wording was deleted, not patched.

Every shipped question was pinned to its exact manual page by both verification passes, and the whole funnel is re-checked mechanically at every commit. The per-question ledger is in the project repository (docs/ny/VERIFICATION_LEDGER.md).

New York is live. Its bank was written in our own words from the official NY State Driver's Manual, verified by two independent review passes that each pinned every question to its exact manual page, and audited before launch by a third independent pass that re-checked a seeded random sample page by page against the official PDF. Practicing here is free, and every answer shows its proof.
