How we set this format
How the Ohio mock exam is set.

Where the agency publishes how many choices its own test shows, this mock matches it. Where it does not, this mock shows every choice we wrote.
Where these numbers come from
Official, published by the Ohio BMV.
- The exam format is official BMV policy: 40 multiple-choice questions on motor vehicle regulations and traffic signs, pass at 75 percent, which is 30 of 40 (bmv.ohio.gov, checked July 2026).
- The same knowledge test applies at every age. What differs is the permit process rather than the test, and the manual splits it at two ages rather than one: driver education and 50 logged practice hours are required of every applicant under 21 and of a temporary resident aged 21 or older, while the six month holding period is marked applicable to drivers under age 18 only (PDF page 6). A parent or guardian co-signs for an applicant under 18 (PDF page 48).
- Fail it and you must wait before retesting: the Ohio Driver Manual (PDF page 4) says one day, and bmv.ohio.gov says 24 hours. In-person attempts are unlimited, one per day; the BMV's online test allows two attempts in six months.
What we could not establish
These are not on this page, because nothing we hold establishes them.
- How many answer choices the real Ohio knowledge test shows. We have not established it, so this page does not state it, and this mock shows every choice we wrote.
